Homes: Kingsview Village Neighbourhood


Kingsview Village, between east-west Dixon Rd and the 401 is a family oriented neighbourhood a community school, recreational facility. The residents have diverse backgrounds and incomes. Kingsview Village area was first settled in the 1850s, though the Thomas Madill farmhouse on Islington Avenue was demolished in 1973 for a subdivision. Most of Kingsview Village was developed in the late 1950s and the early 1960s.

Motorists connect to Highway 401 on-ramps at Islington and at Kipling Avenues. Pearson International Airport is about 5 minutes away. Commuters can catch the TTC Dixon Road, Islington Avenue and Kipling Avenue buses which connect to stations on the Bloor-Danforth subway line. From Kipling station, you can connect to GO Transit, the Pearson Airport express bus service, and to the Mississauga Transit system.

Schools
The community has 2 public schools, to Catholic elementary schools, and two public high schools.

Shopping
Kingsview Village residents have shopping at the Westway Centre (Dixon Road & Kipling Avenue), at the Loblaws superstore (Dixon Road & Islington Avenue) and at the nearby Crossroads Mall to the east (Weston Rd & 401).

Recreation
Weston Golf & Country Club The area ha a number of smaller parks, an indoor ice arena, an outdoor pool, tennis courts, bocce ball, baseball diamonds, and two children's playgrounds. The Weston Golf and Country Club property is adjacent.

Homes
Homes are mainly 1950s and 1960s ranch and contemporary-style bungalows, split-levels, storey-and-a-half homes, and more recent two-storey homes with a garage. Houses often have elaborate front porches with stair railings and entranceways. The area east of Islington Avenue along Fairhaven Drive, featuring charming Colonial Revival style homes and bungalows, was developed on a portion of Weston Golf and Country Club, with many homes facing or backing onto the current Weston Golf Course. There is also a cluster of high-rise apartment buildings on Dixon Road, and high-rise buildings and townhouses on Islington Avenue. Housing here is in the affordable to mid price ranges.
