Homes: Humber Valley Village Neighbourhood

Humber Valley Village, between Islington and the Humber River between Eglinton and Dundas, is an upper-middle income family neighbourhood. Its topography blends into the adjacent Humber River valley, giving the community curvilinear streets and lots of mature trees. The community was developed in the 1930s starting around James Gardens and was completed in the 1960s.

Motorists can travel to downtown Toronto via Bloor Street (about 30 minutes) and are 5 minutes from Highway 401 via Islington Avenue, and 10 minutes from Pearson International Airport. TTC bus service on Royal York Road and on Islington Avenue connect to the Bloor-Danforth subway line. The east-west Eglinton bus connects to the Eglinton West station (Yonge-University-Spadina subway).

Schools
The community has an elementary school and a high school.

Shopping
Residents do most of their shopping at the upscale Humbertown Shopping Centre (Royal York Rd), at the nearby Kingsway Mills plaza (Royal York Road & Dundas Street), and at Thorncrest (Rathburn Rd & Islington)

Recreation
The two dominant features are the St. George's Golf and Country Club (private) mostly east of Islington Avenue, and the James Gardens strolling garden, with spring-fed ponds and quaint bridges, and a rustic woodland trail along the banks of the Humber River. The community has several public tennis court, baseball diamonds, two ice arenas, and a recreational pathway that connects to the Humber River Valley trails, which continue to Toronto's waterfront

Homes
Humber Valley Village contains a wide range of housing styles which were popular from the 1930s through the 1960s. English Manor houses can be found along Edenbridge and North Drive. Other streets have a mix of Georgian, Colonial, Tudor, English Cottage, Cape Cod, ranch bungalows, split-level, and contemporary design homes. The community also has rental apartment buildings on The Kingsway and on Anglesey Boulevard, west of The Kingsway. Hosing here runs from affordable to high-end
